November-27-2008 Happy Thanksgiving and almost Christmas!
Welcome

"May those who fear you rejoice when they see me, for I have put my hope in the word" ~Psalms 119:74

Happy Summer everyone!!! Thank you for visiting my website and for supporting my struggle and fight against breast cancer...I survived at 25!!! I am extremely blessed by God that I have such an amazing circle of support from family, friends, and even complete strangers. Your stories, words of encouragment, prayers, donations, and friendship are the reason I am smiling and healthy today! Thank you!

For those of you who don't know my story, I was living the fun and exciting life of a twenties-something last summer. After recieving my second degree in nursing in August 2007, I was given the "C Bomb", or invasive breast cancer, on September 6th 2007 at 25 years old. Talk about the shock of a lifetime! After many opinions at Sloan Kettering I decided to go through with neoadjuvant chemo (chemo before surgery) and received chemotherapy from October '07- January '08. Neoadjuvant chemo saved my life because the first two chemo drugs didn't even work, and we'd never know that if I had surgery first. Praise God!

In Feburary '08, I had a unilateral mastectomy with immediate reconstruction. After breezing through chemo, I was in for the shock of my life. It was so tough. The amazing news despite all of the chronic pain is that the pathology of my breast tissue shows absolutely NO cancer cells. What a miracle! I also passed the NCLEX (nursing boards), officially becoming an RN!

Thank you for taking the time to read My Fight and for supporting this trial in my life. My next step in life is reconstructive surgery on September 12th '08. I am filled with optimism, smiles, and I know God has a plan for me! I write an update a few weeks, so keep praying for me! Thank you!
