Talk about waiting till the last minute!!!
Hi everyone!
I wanted to once again update everyone about the week that I have had. I was so worried that Kaiser wasn't going to cover my chemotherapy out of network, so I made an appointment with their oncologist on Tuesday. Because my case manager said the acceptance seemed unattainable and all of my appeals were rejected, I couldn't help but feel helpless! I went to Kaiser's oncology center and for the first time felt scared. For some reason, I didn't feel comfortable at all! The people seemed unfriendly, the equipment was outdated, and the place felt cold and depressing. Because of my horrible stomach feeling, I decided to find out how much chemo would cost out of pocket (crazy idea I know) and a whopping $50K later, I felt even more helpless! I have been keeping such a good outlook on this process, especially after my tests came back clear...but I felt frustrated and beaten.
Then, by the grace of God, I received a phone call late yesterday afternoon...from Kaiser. Apparently the appeals team decided to give me one last look and decided to give me out of network coverage for both surgery AND oncology...!!! What a miracle! The sermon I sent to all of you in the beginning talks about God waiting until the 11th hour and 59th second, and isn't that the truth! Just when I started to feel overpowered, a miracle happened! Whew! I am one lucky girl!
Another big change this week is that I chopped my long blonde hair short! I haven't cut my hair since middle school and was terrified before I did it! I love my new style now though and am so relieved that I still look the same! It makes shopping for wigs a lot easier, since most good wigs are shoulder length or shorter! I attached a picture of my new do at the salon!
Thank you thank you thank you to everyone for your love, support, and prayers! The prayers are surely been answered every time, with every test and big decision. I am so lucky that my mom and dad raised me knowing God because He has made this entire process very manageable! Nothing to complain about! :)
Chemo starts next Monday and every other Monday for 16 weeks. I cant wait to get started so that I am closer to being done! Wahoo! Updates to come!
Love,
Jami
